The Second Chance Program is not a religious organization, nor is it religious in nature. In the tradition of the United Way, which was founded by 2 ministers and a rabbi, the American Red Cross, which was founded by a devout Unitarian and spiritualist, and the USA, which was founded by strong Christians, the Second Chance Program was founded those of the Christian, Jewish and Scientology faiths. Their religious beliefs hold that aiding mankind is of utmost importance and their purpose is to help a sector of society that has been abandoned by most. |
| How is the Second Chance Program funded? |
The Second Chance program receives funding from a variety of sources including government, public and private donations. For example, here is a copy of a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services. Any philanthropic organization or individual who wishes to make a donation is welcome to contact us for more information. |
| Who is behind the internet hate propaganda campaign? |
Anti-Semite and Neo-Nazi, Arnold Lerma, has posted and instigated a number of internet propaganda campaigns against Second Chance and its founders. Since many of the people who benefit from the Second Chance program are from minority groups, this goes against Mr. Lerma and his cohorts’ neo-Nazi agenda. |
| Does the program work? |
Absolutely. Independent university studies show over a 5-year period that criminal recidivism has dropped to less than 10% for those who have participated prior to release in at least one third of the Second Chance Program. |
| Does the program use drugs? |
The program uses no alternate drugs. The SCP achieves cost effective results in a therapeutic community setting, using peer supported manualized education protocols as well as a long-range nutritional and sauna based detoxification program. |
| Is the Second Chance Program licensed? |
The Second Chance Program is what is referred to as a Social Rehabilitation Model. It is not a Medical Rehabilitation Model. Medical Rehab Models use drugs in their process and as such need to be licensed. The Second Chance Program is a social rehabilitation model and does not use any drugs. As such, state regulations do not require licensing. |
